WHO: 6TH-12TH GRADERS
WHAT: A WEEKEND OF FELLOWSHIP, TEACHING, AND ADVENTURE WITH RPCYOUTH

A NOTE FROM ROB:
We are so thankful to have your child or children joining us on this retreat. The reason we take this long weekend to drive to a camp in the middle of the Winter is twofold. First, we go because we believe the gospel is true. God has sent his Son into the world so that sinful people may know Him and the full life that comes through relationship with Him. Second, we go because our desire is for your children to know this God, either to come to a saving knowledge of Him for the first time, or to deepen their faith in His Son through hearing the gospel taught and experiencing it lived out through relationships with leaders and other students.
With this in mind, please be praying with us that every middle and high school student who joins us will leave with a more passionate dependence on Jesus Christ for their identity, value, and purpose. This is why we go-- not simply to have fun, not simply to be with our best friends-- but to spread the kingdom of Jesus.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 18th CHECK-IN
We will begin check-in for the retreat at 4pm inside the Firestone Room at Redeemer Presbyterian. Please bring release forms if you have not filled one out for 2017/2018. We will have extra copies of the form available at the check-in table.
We are aiming to leave the Redeemer lot by 4:30pm. We will be taking two charter buses, so packing up and getting out on time should be easier.
We will return to the Redeemer parking lot by 12:30pm on Monday.
Contact Information: Rob and I will have our cell phones on us at all times, so if you need to contact us, please don’t hesitate to do so.
If possible... write your name on your stuff! We always have unclaimed things at the end.
Gym clothes (t-shirt, shorts)
Socks & underwear
Comfortable, warm, closed-toed shoes
Raincoat (might get a little rain Saturday)
toothbrush + toothpaste
Sleeping bag or warm blanket and linens (our accommodations have plain bunk beds but there is heat)
Water Bottle (there aren't extra cups around outside of meals for drinking, so this is essential!)
RPC Youth General Release
Camp Grace Waiver
Watch (just a suggestion but helpful for following the schedule at Camp)
small backpack to carry water and schedule around
hammock -- there are some GREAT hammocking sports.
Spending Money: Students will NOT need any extra money for the trip, however, Camp Grace will have their Trading Post available for extra snacks and treats if they would like to buy something. We are also packing snacks and the food is quite good so they should be OK!
WHAT NOT TO PACK
No weapons, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, etc. (This includes pocket knives.)
No aerosol sprays*, lighters, sparklers/poppers/firecrackers/etc. (*This means no AXE body spray or scented deodorant sprays that can be used to make "stink bombs." For reals.)
No pocket knives, and no electronics.
Yep. No electronics. See our policy below.
No electronics, except for a camera. We don't allow any phones on our retreats, not even for camera purposes.
The purpose of this is to remove distraction that is so present in theirs (and our) daily lives as a result of media and devices (all which serve their purpose). We want all our students to spend this time growing in their capacity to enjoy God and know one another through temporarily removing such distractions. So, we are also not allowing video game consoles, iPads, iPods, kindles, headphones, and other things that would fall into the "electronics" category. This is a place where we humbly ask you as parents to trust us by encouraging your children to let go of these things for a few days. As far as phones and contact goes, the leaders will have our phones on us throughout the trip if you need to get in touch with your child in an emergency situation. We will also include Camp Grace's contact below.
If you have questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact either Rob or Morgan before deciding to send your child with a phone anyway. We are humbly and sincerely asking you to trust us with this. We have seen incredible fruit, both socially and individually, from allowing the students to disengage with their devices for the weekend. Thank you!
We are so excited about the weekend and can't wait to spend time with your kids. Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions leading up to the weekend!
